The New England Patriots have a new quarterback, but they haven’t named him yet.
The 2020 new england patriots is a question that has been asked by many fans. Bill Belichick has not yet named a starting quarterback for the Patriots’ regular-season NFL opener, but it’s expected to be Tom Brady.
PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Cam Newton of the New England Patriots stated Monday that head coach Bill Belichick hasn’t informed him whether or not he’ll start the regular-season opener against the Miami Dolphins on September 12th.
“No. You know he hasn’t said anything like that. So, for you to just ask that question, well, that’s what it is “After the Patriots’ practice with the Philadelphia Eagles at the NovaCare Complex, Newton had this to say. “Every day, I come out here with the expectation of just becoming better, because it is the only thing I can do. So that’s something I’m in charge of.”
Newton was asked the issue because, although Belichick has said many times that Newton is the club’s starting quarterback, he also stated on the night the team selected Alabama’s Mac Jones in the first round: “We’ll see how it works whatever time Mac is ready to challenge and compete.”

Jones’ progress was evident in the Patriots’ 22-13 preseason victory against the Washington Football Team on Thursday, when he played one series behind the first-team offensive line and ran a successful two-minute offense to start the second half, with both drives ending in field goals.
Newton began the game by taking 12 snaps on two drives, one of which ended in a field goal. He completed 4-of-7 passes for 49 yards.
Jones came in and took over for him, playing five series for a total of 33 snaps. He completed 13 of 19 passes for 87 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. (In the fourth quarter, both Patriots scores occurred with Brian Hoyer as quarterback.)
Newton has completed all of the No. 1 reps throughout training camp and the preseason, and he acknowledged Monday that the question of starting in the regular-season opener didn’t bother him.
“It doesn’t bother me in the least. I simply want you to know that I’m aware of everything you’re aware of. There are no hidden intentions or anything of the kind “he said
“I’m aware that such things are beyond my control. I don’t care who starts every day because I don’t care who starts every day. I’m mainly concerned about making sure I’m putting out the finest product possible for myself. I know Mac is feeling the same way, and I know Brian is feeling the same way, and everyone else is feeling the same thing as well, as we go through each position. Prior to Week 1, we have a lot to worry about, and that’s where my attention is right now.”
In the two-minute drill, Jones, the fifth overall quarterback in the draft (15th overall), closed up Monday’s practice with the Eagles with a touchdown throw to receiver N’Keal Harry. He hadn’t spoken to the media since making his NFL debut in the preseason opener, which he said was difficult for him to watch at times.
Jones remarked, “I believe I could really slow down a little bit and just take it all in and keep to my principles.” “I didn’t feel out of place or anything, but I did feel like I missed a lot of opportunities. You must accept it for what it is worth and tell the men, “My bad,” and go on.”
Jones met up with former Alabama teammates (and current Eagles) DeVonta Smith and Landon Dickerson after Monday’s practice, wearing a brace on his left knee for “protection reasons.” While it was nice to meet old acquaintances, he insisted that his main focus remains on the future.
When asked whether he wants to start in Week 1, he replied, “It’s not my aim.” “To be honest, I’ve always considered myself fortunate to be a member of a team. You never know when it will be your turn. I’m simply eager to go back to work. I obviously have a lot of work ahead of me. That is unmistakable. But I’m going to keep working every day, and everything will fall into place as it should.”
